In the second year of life, most babies are familiar with adult nutrition, however, the fact that the baby has entered the second year does not mean that he is allowed to eat everything, so let’s figure out what the child’s menu should be in a year.
Child nutrition per year – prohibited foods
Spiced broth, pork chop, pickles and fried foods are not suitable for a small stomach as they can cause indigestion or poisoning. Also, avoid junk food on the table like pizza, hamburgers, soda. If now the baby gets used to unhealthy food, then in a few years he will refuse proper, healthy food in favor of unhealthy food, which in turn will negatively affect health.
When placing a child at a common table, do not forget that meals for the whole family should be suitable for the baby, give preference to baked meat instead of fried. Potatoes and rice – with minimal salt, and salad dressing with vegetable oil, not sauce or mayonnaise from the store. Refuse sausages, they contain a lot of fat, salt and chemical fillers. Black tea, flavored water, fatty cakes and factory-made pastries are prohibited. Do not use food concentrates such as maggi cubes or other artificial additives.
Child’s menu per year – what can you eat crumbs
Product quality is important. Whenever possible, choose organic fruits, eggs, and vegetables, and fish from trusted sources. The best option for quenching your thirst is water of low or medium mineralization approved by the Institute of Baby Nutrition. After water, homemade compote with a low sugar content is in second place, and herbal tea from fireweed, mint or chamomile is in third place (if there is no allergy). It is acceptable to use a small amount of herbs in dishes. A one-year-old baby can be given a glass of UHT cow’s milk, which covers part of the daily calcium requirement.
Offer vegetables without restrictions, the only exception is spinach, which has a lot of iron and oxalates that prevent the absorption of calcium, the baby can eat it no more than once a week. Fruits store many useful substances, especially vitamin C, which affects the immune system, as well as potassium, magnesium and other minerals. Grain products provide the body with energy due to the content of carbohydrates, B vitamins have a positive effect on the maturation of the nervous system, and fibers improve the functioning of the digestive system. Meat and fish contain a lot of protein and iron necessary for growth and development. Meat is best served as a separate dish or addition to a side dish for lunch, it can be turkey, lamb or chicken. Baked fish – tuna or salmon, twice a week.
Meals in one year – five meals a day and varied
Nutrition per year should contain all the necessary ingredients – proteins, fats, carbohydrates in the form of correct portions, that is, no larger than a baby’s fist or as much as he wants to eat. It is also important to monitor regular food intake, because right now the metabolic rate is being laid. When a child eats irregularly, the body switches to “saving” mode by accumulating body fat, which creates a tendency to gain excess weight.
Five meals a day with a variety of meals on a schedule is the best option for a baby after a year, even if he eats mother’s milk between meals. It is advisable to adhere to a three-hour break between meals. An approximate daily portion of fruit is half an apple, an apricot, half a glass of freshly squeezed juice, a total of 200 gr. Vegetables about 500 gr. The calorie requirement for children 1-3 years old is 80 kcal per 1 kg of body weight, assuming that the child weighs up to 10 kg, then the daily calorie requirement is 800 kcal. Knowing this will allow you to make a diet without overfeeding the child.
If the baby has no appetite
Often, about two years old, the baby loses his appetite, in this case, review the menu. Remove snacks, but do not refuse fruits, especially apples, they stimulate the production of gastric juice, improving appetite. Cook with your baby, food prepared and decorated with your own hands is always tastier. A personal example or older / younger children in the family will also help, a joint lunch encourages the kids to repeat after others.
When composing food after a year, do not forget about a possible allergic reaction, offer a new product by a teaspoon so as not to discourage the baby from experimenting with different tastes.
